What's the best way to get a bad smell out of a wicker rocking chair? And thourgouly clean it?
I recently bought a very nice white wicker rocking chair second hand for my son's nursery. It's a really nice piece of furniture and the man who sold it to me paid a lot for it, so I want to keep it, but I want to know what is the best way to thourougly clean it? I'm nesting right now because I'm 34 weeks pregnant, so I want to make sure it's really clean, and it doesn't smell so great either, so I want to know how I can get the smell out as well. Thanks!
Would fantastic and a brush work? Or since it's white should I just do bleach water? It doesn't seem too dirty but I'm really worried about germs, and the smell!
I can't do the outside hosing off thing as I live in Alaska. And it's cold and snowy outside. But that'd be a great idea if I lived practically anywhere else.

I've wet fabric softener sheets and used them to clean smelly furniture. If it's really dirty though you might need to scrub it with something powerful and a brush first.
Make love on it
I agree with making love, i had a dodgy smelling car and didnt no where it was coming from. So i made love to it. It still smelt bad for a while with semen, sweat and pee but the fond memories i have now eject these smells from my nose and i dont even notice the bad smell anymore.
Wicker furniture can easily survive a proper hosing down.

I'd recommend taking it outdoors, and give it a good treatment with a garden hose. --If you dribble a little dish soap into the water as it jets out of the hose nozzle, you can get a decent lather going. Then just spray it down and get the dust and dirt out of all the cracks and small spaces between the wicker. Jetting water like this will do what you'll never achieve with a cloth.

Then just let it dry, either in the sun or indoors if you like.

That should fix things up nicely. --I like to thoroughly wash the thin layer of grime of the previous owner's environment from whatever prizes I pick up at garage sales and flee markets. Even if the item arrives reasonably fresh and serviceable, I find it makes a big psychological difference to me when I know I've given something a deep cleaning.

Cheers!
Wicker Care and Cleaning
To remove dirt and grime from wicker furniture wash with a solution of 2 tablespoons of ammonia in 1 gallon of water. Use a toothbrush in hard to reach places. Rinse well. Air dry.

To prevent yellowing, wash wicker furniture with a warm salt water solution...
